Brown Rice Pasta with Meat Sauce

Serves 4


Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean, grass-fed, organic ground beef
  • 1 large yellow or white onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 – 3 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt or Himalayan salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces brown rice noodles, uncooked
  • Fresh basil, chopped


Directions

  • Combine the beef, onion, and garlic in a large pot and cook over medium heat, stirring, until the beef crumbles and is no longer pink.
  • Stir in the water, tomato paste, tomato sauce, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper, and bring the sauce to a boil.
  • Cover, reduce the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Add the pasta; cover and simmer, stirring often, for 20 minutes or until the pasta is tender.
  • Serve immediately, sprinkled with chopped basil.
